Tatsuo Miyajima

Born in 1957, Tatsuo Miyajima received a BA and an MFA from Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts, and also received an honorary doctorate of London Institution in 1998. From the beginning of 1990s, he has ground through experiences of artist-in-residency program in NY, Berlin and Paris. His works have been featured in many solo shows of galleries and museums home and abroad and major international exhibitions. One of his art projects is planting persimmon trees all over the world that are descended from ones exposed to atomic bomb to appeal for peace. He is currently a vice president of Tohoku University of Art and Design.
