Hiroko Ichihara

Born in 1964 in Kyoto, graduated from Kyoto College of Art, Visual Design Course, Hiroko Ichihara started her career in 1985. Since her solo exhibition, “Push your way through this crowd. Hurry up and come to me, Mr. Right!” (HB Gallery/Tokyo) in ’91, She creates text art works that elicit common situation, place and person with her sense of everyday life and humor. Her works are widely shown in galleries, museums, and art projects, such as “Ask Him about Me” (1994/ Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito). Recently, she is working on “Play Room”, a collaborative project with Yanai Shinichi, an artist and her husband, which offers contemporary art space for parents and children in The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.
